thats what the media does. anyone with a bit of fame is assumed to be rich and good looking. he does look a little lost, goofy is the right word, but thats cute to some people.

I’ll give him credit- he always remains modest and doesn’t get ****** in by all the hype. He’s a good ambassador for the US and America at present needs as many of those as they can get.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their own tastes. I’m sure you find some supermodels ugly, and other people don’t. It’s all an opinion. Don’t sweat it.

Yeah, his cheekbones look like they could cut ice with Photoshop, but, yes, definitely goofy.

I love Michael Phelps and find him to be absolutely gorgeous. But like someone else mentioned, his personality has a lot to do with it. He’s modest, humble, and credits other people for his success. A lot of supermodels (And atheletes too!) are conceited and only into themselves. Great to see an overall nice person get coverage for a change and not a jerk!

Uh, hun. It’s because his body is beautiful. For decades women have had to be compared to a very unrealistic ideal of perfection. I’m indulging in a great deal of schadenfreude. Every man can now expect to hear Well, you’re no Micheal Phelps. His body is so freaking **** it’s stunning. Heading to the gym are you?

i agree with all those that say personality is what makes him super-stud status. everyone has their opinions of what makes a person ****.
some rank looks higher than personality or mannerisms. some think a persons body ranks higher than their ****** features. each person has their own prerogative.
i think he’s gorgeous because he’s demure and laid back. and he doesn’t make a huge deal out of his fame. he knows he’s a role model, but let’s be honest here. he’s still a guy who puts his speedo on one leg at a time.

I think it is partly to do with his deal with speedo and the fact that he is a model for them but you have to admit michael phelps is quite good looking.

It’s bugging me too. Ya, he might be one of the greatest athletes ever but that doesn’t mean you have to know everything about him. I am so tired of the focus. Moreover, in the relay thing, it was all about Michael and not say, Brendan Hansen. Omg. It’s like the Twilight book series thing…you know.

Well, everyone has their own opinion, and I don’t think every ones trying to take him as a supermodel. He’s now among being a celebrity or already is, and think about it, some actors aren’t good looking, but people can make them out of supermodels if they want to. He’s conceded the greatest Olympian ever. You have to give him credit for that, so many people now will want him in advertisement and want to sponsor him just like many sponsor the Olympic games.

For my opinion I think Michael Phelps is a good looking guy. What strikes me the most is his amazing down to earth personality. Michael is a good person and a great guy. He seems so real. Michael is a fantastic swimmer, and I love to watch him swim. I am very proud of him that he won 8 gold medals. I can’t wait to see him swim again at the 2012 olympics.

He’s not a role model because of his appearance you superficial people. He’s a role model because of his accomplishments, winning 8 gold medals in one olympic games and winning more career medals than anyone in the history of the Olympics. He also overcame alot of obstacles like his attention deficit disorder and the bullying he received from other superficial people over his looks. He deserves to be admired and looked up to, certainly alot more than all the airhead celebrities you see making headlines.

When you first look at him most people see his body which is amazing because he swims so much. I think he has a very cute face and he seems human and normal and not stuck up. From the personality that we see he seems like an awesome person. I am a swimmer so i am attracted to swimmers. i just think he seems like an amazing person and that makes him so attractive.

I think he looks embarrassed by all the attention. Naturally, he should have a good body…swimmers are supposed to be fit and athletic.

Once you got super talent, people tend to overlook at your look, at least he is not an ugly guy.
