    1980 when the usa won gold in hockey!!! MIRACLE!!! dosent get any better than that…

    I would say 1980 In Lake Placid and 2002 in Salt Lake City.

    1980- because of Eric Heiden’s (sp?) speed skating golds and of course the Miracle on Ice

    2002- because of the record number of medals the U.S. won. Plus it was post 9/11 and gave us something to fell good about.

    The greatest winter Olympics would have everything to do based on what country you’re from and who you root for. Obviously as an American I would have to say that the 1980 Olympics were incredible from a fans perspective. Between the Miracle on Ice and Eric Heiden’s 5 Gold Medals in speed skating I can’t think of a better Olympics.
